Yes, it's true, Jeff and Melisa have moved to Wisconsin!

As you probably know, we have completed our move to Wisconsin (that's in the middle of the United States for those of you who think any state that is more than 2 hours from an ocean as a 'fly over state').

We purchased the house that Melisa's parents have lived in for the last 10 years.  They had 40 acres, but we divided the property in half and they built a new house for themselves on "the front 20," leaving the "back 20" for us with the existing house and structures.
We are very excited about the move and hope many of you will come to see us so you will understand why we love the area so much!  For now, please enjoy the pictorial tour below of the property and some of the surrounding area.

There are also some links at the bottom of the page that will show you some of the local places of interest.  Plan your vacation now (Summer is strongly recommended... Summer lasts from June 30th until mid August, FYI).

Aparently, even at age 5, Jeff knew one day
he would be moving to Wisconsin (Go Birds)

Fall colors in the side yard, behind the grape vines
and the wildfolwer field

Here is the view to the left in the back yard

This view is slightly to the right of the one above, in the winter

Here is the same view from the deck early in the morning
as the sun is rising over the bluffs

This picture is taken looking back up at the house from the area
pictured above.  The right side of the house is the bedrooms
over top of a large finished basement area and the left side, behind
the deck, is the hot tub room

Stepping up the long steps onto the deck and looking to the right

Looking back the other way

Peeking in at the hot tub room at night

Jeff with a pork loin spinning on the rotisserie at night

Looking back up at the house in the winter
before the deck was built

This picture was taken from the "deck area" looking back
and to the right toward a trail into the woods

This photo was taken from the driveway, looking along
the side of the living room from the front of the house

The living room is coming together nicely but we don't know
what to do with the old floral couch in the near left corner

Are you ready for some football?  51" of HD fun!

The dining room

The master bedroom with the side window
looking out toward the deck

Jeff has always wanted a game room with a pool table.  Foosball
and darts (180 degrees back from this view) are fun too

The gun closet in the main game room is now a bar

The other finished room in the basement is for air hockey

Looking to the far side of the driveway is the shed

Inside the shed is very roomy, even with the John Deere in place

Looking down the driveway toward the road.  The driveway for
the new house is off to the left, into the woods somewhere
after the second small bend

The same view in the winter

Looking back up the driveway toward the house in winter,
The road is about 400 feet back the other way

This is a blurry picture of a photograph coming up the driveway
in Spring, when the apple blossoms are in full force

To the right of the shed is the "Midwest Woodpile" with enough
wood to heat an East Coast city, or one Wisconsin home for a Winter

Melisa took this picture of Carl and Jeff loading firewood onto
the front end loader of the 1949 John Deere "B" farm tractor

Carl and Melisa moving wood to the Garage

To the right of the woodpile, and back toward the house, is this
1851 schoolhouse.  Needs some paint but it is structurally
sound.  This was on the Spring 2005 "to do" list!  Maybe in '06?  :-)
(Click on the schoolhouse for more information)

Turning further to the right the we see the garage and car port area

After walking around the garage, this picture shows the vineyard
(i.e. a couple grape vines) in front of a field of wildflowers

Shown in the winter, the beginnings of a Christmas Tree Farm in the yard

Really, it isn't cold, trust me!

This is the view from one of the bluffs surrounding town, looking
out over the Wisconsin River in the distance.

Here we are hiking the cliffs over Devil's Lake, looking
back toward our home.  The property
is on the horizon to the left, under the tree limb.

Here is a view of Devil's Lake, looking down through the trees.
