The Frozen Tundra of
Lambeau Field
November 19th, 2000

Well, Melisa was certainly surprised!  After driving through the night (Friday) to spend time with her family in Wisconsin, we stayed awake all day Saturday and went to bed early (8:00pm).  This fit my intentions perfectly, since I knew we would be waking up at 4:30am Sunday morning to get ready to go to Lambeau for the Packers vs the Colts!

When the alarm went off at 4:30am, I slowly woke Melisa from her sleep.  As she realized how early it was she became confused, and a bit angry that she was awake!  Fortunately, she was able to focus on the pair of tickets for the Packers game (which I found thanks to eBay) that I was holding inches from her face!  To say that she was excited and surprised would be an understatement!  Having never been to a Packers game, she has always wanted to experience a game at Lambeau Field, so getting a Christmas present like this, weeks before Christmas, was perfectly fine with her!

Melisa's brother, Scott, was also able to get a ticket for the game, so at 5:40am, we piled into the well equipped Blazer (coolers, blankets, food and drinks) and headed northwest to Green Bay.

Here are some photos from the day.  We hope you enjoy them!

We arrived at 8:45am to a snow covered view of Lambeau Field:

Here we are with the Packer Polka Band in the parking lot:

We didn't win any awards for fanciest tailgate equipment, but we had fun!
Here is Melisa tending to the Brats and Jimmy John Hot Dogs:

Mmmmm, Jimmy John hot dogs at Lambeau Field!  A first?

Melisa enjoying a more traditional bratwurst:

Jeff eating a brat without a roll.  Looks like a cigar, but really, it's a brat!

Scott & Melisa outside the stadium.  It doesn't get any better that this!

OK, it does get better!  Scott and Melisa with the Packers warming up behind them:

The Packers take the field for the start of the game!  Gametime temperature
is a balmy 28 degrees.  We were never cold due to the closeness of the seats!

Jeff & Melisa enjoying the game.  Notice all of the orange in the crowd?
It was the second day of deer hunting season, so many hunters came
straight to the game after a morning of hunting!

Melisa and Jeff enjoying a 19 - 0 Packers lead!

Jeff, Melisa, Scott and some guy who loves to have his picture taken!
We left after a great day, still pumped up by the exciting 26 - 24 victory!
